10 Things You Wanted to Know About Google Gemini AI But Were Too Afraid to Ask
On Wednesday, Google introduced its new Gemini AI, which has been integrated into its Bard chatbot. This advanced artificial intelligence model is generating excitement as it is believed to possess superior reasoning abilities compared to ChatGPT and other competitors, although Google executives have refrained from making direct comparisons. Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the potential of Gemini, stating that they have only just begun to tap into its capabilities. In contrast to OpenAI’s partnership with Microsoft, Google has collaborated with DeepMind to develop Gemini, positioning it as the primary rival to ChatGPT.
“This new era of models represents some of the greatest science and engineering work we’ve done as a company,” Pichai said in a statement.
AI industry leader OpenAI is now suffering from an intense internal dispute, so it is ripe for Google to not only catch up with its rival, which launched ChatGPT about a year ago, but even beat it. In particular, Google is looking to take the generative AI lead from ChatGPT maker OpenAI following the firing of CEO Sam Altman and his return a few days later. So what is Google Gemini AI all about?
10 things
1. Google says it’s an ‘AI first’ company, but the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT clearly found that out. And what hurt the most was that OpenAI did it in partnership with bitter rival Microsoft. The most annoying part was definitely that it skyrocketed in popularity when it was made available to users around the world. Now that Gemini promises to deliver features, OpenAI may well prove to be better.
2. It is the first AI model to outperform human experts in specific comparisons of problem solving, mathematics, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics.
3. In a very successful presentation, Gemini was able to identify what was being shown, from someone acting out a scene from the movie “The Matrix” to someone drawing a duck and then picking up a rubber duck.
4. Gemini even made comparisons, drew conclusions, and offered suggestions.
5. That’s not all. In fact, the performance of the Gemini “Ultra” version “significantly” exceeds the performance of other high-end models in 30 benchmark tests that measure features such as image comprehension or mathematical reasoning. The “Ultra” version will be released early next year. .
6. The “Pro” version of Gemini built into the Bard is designed to handle a wide range of tasks. The “Nano” version is tailored for smartphones and will first arrive on Google’s flagship Pixel 8 handset.
7. Now the Bard uses Gemini for more advanced reasoning, planning and understanding abilities.
8. It is available in English in more than 170 countries and regions, and more languages will be added soon.
9. Bard with Gemini AI will be expanded to “multimodal”. This means it can work with audio and visual input as well as text prompts. Google says Gemini brings it one step closer to its vision of creating “the world’s best AI collaborator.”
10. Geminis elevate the quality of the Bard’s performance, either by writing poetry or computer code for shopping surveys or research projects.
