Introducing Pixel 8 Pro: The First Phone to Utilize Google Gemini – Discover Its Exciting New Features
The Google Pixel 8 Pro is now receiving a new software update that brings Gemini Nano, a variant of the company’s latest Large Language Model, or LLM, to the flagship device. In addition to that, Google also brings several new features to the device in the form of the Pixel feature drop.
The Gemini Nano is one of three versions of the Google Gemini 1.0 family, available alongside the Gemini Pro and the yet-to-be-released Gemini Ultra. This version is specially designed to work on mobile devices and supports the scalability initiative that Google supports in its new models.
Gemini-powered features are coming to the Pixel 8 Pro
Summarize in the Recorder
Pixel 8 Pro users can now use the Summarize feature in the Recorder app. This allows users to get a summary of recorded conversations, interviews and presentations – without an internet connection.
Smart Reply in Gboard
Gemini Nano also now allows Pixel 8 Pro users to use Smart Reply in Gboard as part of the developer preview. This can be used in apps like WhatsApp for now, with more support coming next year. This feature works by allowing users to receive “high quality” answer suggestions. However, please note that this feature is only available to English speaking users.
Other pixel properties
In addition to the Gemini AI features, the Pixel 8 Pro now gets a “Video Boost” feature that lets you download normal-looking videos and get a retouched video in return. Google does this with its computational photography models and adjusts color, lighting, stability and grain based on the material. This also enables Night Sight for videos on the Pixel 8 Pro, making low-light videos more usable.
Apart from this, other features like Photo Unblur also get an update and now you can sharpen photos of dogs and cats if they are blurry.
