A rival company assists in the development of Apple’s foldable iPad, bringing it closer to reality.
Apple is probably one of the few well-known tech brands that have yet tried their luck in the foldable segment, and it looks like the company is slowly laying the groundwork to make it happen. According to reports, Apple has to launch a foldable iPad first before the iPhone, and the company is expecting help from one of its biggest competitors, Samsung.
The South Korean brand is not only a major smartphone player, but also responds to the demands of the industry through its display business.
And in that, it helps Apple realize its goal of bringing a foldable product to market. Some of you may not know this, but Samsung is the main supplier of OLED displays for the iPhone 15 series, so it’s no surprise to hear that the company will also be Apple’s foldable supplier.
New reports from South Korea claim that Samsung is reshaping its Apple business team to get foldable panels made the way Apple wants them to be for its products. Apple is a serious customer for Samsung, helping it earn billions over the years, and the foldable segment helps Samsung increase Apple’s revenue. It is not confirmed that Apple will rely on Samsung for folding panels, but the South Korean brand has been one of the few active names in the segment for several years, with many market-ready products that have been bought around the world.
All these credentials make it easy for Apple to choose its supplier between Samsung and LG, but it will be interesting to see which of these suppliers has the right balance to get Apple’s nod and work on its upcoming Apple product. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple will launch its first foldable product by 2025, and it’s likely that we might start hearing more rumors about the device from next year onwards.
