WhatsApp users will soon have the ability to share their status updates with friends on Instagram.
WhatsApp is reportedly developing a feature that will allow users with an Instagram account to share their status updates directly to Instagram using a shortcut.
This information comes from WABetaInfo, which primarily focuses on reporting features focused on WhatsApp. The release states that this feature is under development, but the new WhatsApp beta version, specifically Android beta version 2.23.26.17, was found to include additional improvements to this feature.
WABetaInfo notes that this feature would be available as a suggestion that “will be visible via a convenient shortcut to users immediately after posting a new status.” However, if users don’t want this suggestion, they can disable the shortcut in the app’s settings.
Additionally, the report adds that sharing status updates to Instagram will always require “manual selection of a shortcut,” ensuring users have full control over their sharing preferences.
Additionally, when you share these status updates, they will only be shared with the followers you choose to share them with, and this can be configured in Instagram’s privacy settings.
On that note, this feature might prove to be a time-saver for individuals and businesses who want to share the same media on both Instagram and WhatsApp. In addition, it is expected to increase the reach and visibility of people’s content on WhatsApp. However, it’s not clear when we can expect the feature to finally roll out, especially since it’s not yet available in beta.
