Learn how to use Google Messages’ new emoji reactions feature to add some fun to your chats
Google Messages has recently been focusing on enhancing user experience by introducing new features such as custom themes and background colors. In addition to animated emojis, photomoji, and effects, the platform has now added emoji reactions for chats, similar to those found on WhatsApp, Instagram, and iMessage. Learn more about this new feature on Google Messages.
Google Messages emoji reaction feature
According to a report by 9To5Google, Google Messages now includes emoji reaction features that allow users to drop reactions into text. If you want to add a reaction to a text, all you have to do is long press on a specific text message and an emoji menu will appear where you can choose the emoji you want. Reaction consists of 10 emoji characters including thumbs up, red heart, laughing emoji, thumbs down, party popper, crying face and others.
The emoji reaction feature has been added with a twist, as when you select an emoji, several animations appear in front of your screen. Google said in a blog post: “The magic unfolds instantly as an animated triangle of hands dances around the message bubble.” The feature has started rolling out now, so you might see a reaction on your device in a few days. The company also added, “Designed to add a dynamic twist to conversations, this feature embraces the power of expression.”
Other features
Google Messages is also currently rolling out a custom theme and background colors for beta users. A stable version of the feature is expected to be available to users in the coming weeks. There are other features that Google is rumored to be working on to make the app more intuitive. Note that the Google Messages emoji reaction feature currently works on Android devices. However, iMessage already includes this feature on iPhones.
