Instagram Users In India Can Now Get A ‘Blue Tick’ Verification For Rs 699: Check Eligibility For Meta Verification

Indian users can now access Meta Verified, a subscription service offered by Meta that provides a verified blue checkmark and various other benefits, such as enhanced account security, in exchange for a monthly fee.

Available for iOS and Android users for Rs 699, Meta Verified verifies accounts with an authority certificate rather than having ‘significance’.

The company is also planning to introduce a Rs 599 price tag for online users soon.

Of course, people’s primary incentive to order is the coveted “blue tick,” which at this point has become wishful thinking. According to Meta, users now get “more protection against impersonation with proactive account monitoring for impersonators who may be targeting people with a growing online audience.”

Currently, verified users in the country who were confirmed to be “significant” get to keep their checkmarks for free, unlike Twitter, which removed all “legacy” checkmarks and asked users to pay Rs 900 per month for Twitter Blue if they want the checkmark. And especially for checkmarks, Meta is asking users to pay Rs 300 less than Twitter – and that might seem more attractive to most Indian users.

Support is currently limited to English users only, but the company has claimed that Hindi users will also get support “in the coming months”.

“We want to build a subscription offering that is valuable to everyone, including content creators, businesses and our community at large. As part of that vision, we’re evolving the role of verified accounts in our apps,” the company said.

What you need to confirm: who’s eligible, requirements and more

First, in order to subscribe to Meta Verified, users must be at least 18 years of age and have a government-issued identity card such as Aadhar Card or a driver’s license.

“Applicants must then provide official identification that matches the profile name and photo of the Facebook or Instagram account they are applying for,” the company added.

At this point, only individuals can get verified, not companies.
