According to reports, WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is developing a feature that allows users to select the duration for which messages remain pinned in chats and groups. This feature enables users to pin specific messages in individual chats and groups, making it simpler for all participants to highlight them for future use.
“While the feature is still in development, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.11 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is now developing a feature that will allow users to choose how long a message stays pinned in a chat, and it’s available in the app in a future update,” WABetaInfo reported.
According to the report, the Meta-owned app is planning to roll out a feature that will allow people in a conversation to choose how long a badge lasts. This feature allows users to flexibly choose a certain duration, after which the pinned message will be automatically unpinned.
Currently, through the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.11 update, WABetaInfo discovered that WhatsApp wants to offer users three different durations: 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. As stated in the alert, it is possible to unpin the current pinned message at any time, even before the selected duration expires, giving users more flexibility and control over their pinned messages.
With pinned posts, the Meta-owned platform aims to provide users with a tool to make important information or announcements that are prominently displayed at the top of the conversation, ensuring they are easily accessible and other posts are not overlooked. the report said.
In addition, the new message PIN duration feature provides a convenient way for people to ensure that timely and relevant information remains visible for as long as desired. After the set time has passed, the message is automatically disconnected, helping to maintain an organized, up-to-date and clearer conversation.
The ability to choose how long posts stay pinned in chats and groups, as well as the ability to pin posts, are in development and will be released to beta testers in a future update to the app.
