Twelve People Arrested in Noida and Ghaziabad for Cheating in Government Job Exam, 87 Arrested Across Uttar Pradesh
Officials said on Wednesday that the Uttar Pradesh Police has successfully apprehended 87 individuals suspected of cheating in a government recruitment exam across various centres in the state, thanks to the implementation of an advanced face recognition software powered by Artificial Intelligence.
They said that while the maximum number of suspects were arrested in Lucknow (11), a total of 12 were arrested from Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad areas adjacent to Delhi.
Among those arrested were fake candidates called “solvers” who fraudulently impersonated instead of genuine applicants and those who used unfair means to crack the Gram Vkas Adhikar (Village Development Officer) recruitment test conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC). on Tuesday.
“UPSSSC, under the guidance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, conducted all the examination to ensure the purity and sanctity of the examination. The examination was observed and monitored at the UPSSSC level with live streaming of all examination-related activities at all centers,” a senior police officer said.
“Using advanced AI based facial recognition software and technology used by UPSSSC and with the active support and assistance of special task force and district and local police administration, as many as 87 ‘solvers’ (including a woman) were nabbed. On Tuesday,” the police said.
Most of such suspects were in Lucknow (11), followed by Banda (10), Aligarh (8), Kanpur (8), Varanasi (8), Ghaziabad (7), Gorakhpur (6), Azamgarh (5) and Gautam Buddh. Nagar (5), Mirzapur (5), Agra (4), Jhansi (4), Basti (2) and one each in Bareilly, Meerut, Prayagraj and Moradabad, according to police.
The police said that in all these cases, appropriate legal action is being taken in the concerned districts, including filing of FIRs for prosecution of fraud, forgery and using unfair means in public investigations organized by the state.
