Apple’s Beats Studio Pro May Feature Head-Tracking Spatial Audio
According to leaked specifications reported by 9to5Mac, Apple’s rumored Beats Studio Pro headphones could be more appealing to certain listeners compared to AirPods. The Studio Pro is said to be the first Beats earphones to provide support for head-tracking spatial audio, a feature previously exclusive to newer AirPods models like the AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, and third-generation base model. If the idea of experiencing sounds with distinct positions interests you, these upcoming over-ear headphones might be worth exploring.
The Beats Studio Pro might also have an edge over the AirPods Max on some basics. They are said to last up to 24 hours with active noise cancellation on (40 without ANC) compared to the Max’s 20 hours. You might also get both a 3.5mm jack and a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm cable might even be included. In addition to the previously rumored personalized surround sound, you get adaptive, environment-sensitive ANC and microphones that improve call quality compared to the Studio 3 Wireless (pictured above).
The design is said to be similar to the Studio 3, but with improved ear pads that promise better comfort and durability. Metal sliders can also provide a more adjustable fit.
Although the Studio Pro doesn’t use Apple’s proprietary chips, it is supposed to use a custom Beats chip that supports both Apple devices and Android. Both platforms apparently support easy pairing, seamless device switching and tracking of lost items. Apple hardware can also support hands-free hey Siri voice commands.
Leaker Myke Hurley claims the Beats Studio Pro will arrive on July 19, and 9to5 believes it will match the Studio 3’s $349 price. If so, they could be a compelling option if you’re looking for advanced Apple-made headphones, but can’t justify paying a $200 premium for the design and audio capabilities of the AirPods Max.
