WhatsApp Developing Group Suggestions Feature For Communities: Get the Details
According to reports, WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Meta, is said to be developing a feature that allows users to suggest groups to community administrators. This new functionality will enable users to recommend their groups to the admins.
After receiving a proposal, a community administrator has the option to include the proposed group in the community, making it easier for other community members to learn about and join the relevant groups.
“WhatsApp is now developing another new feature to improve communities: group suggestions. This feature is currently under development and has been spotted via the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.14.14 update from the Google Play Store,” WABetaInfo reported.
According to the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, a new section is being developed to showcase the group suggestion feature. This section allows community administrators to accept or reject any request from other community members. There are also two shortcuts in the same section that allow you to quickly reject or accept their suggestions. Additionally, it is imperative that the privacy option called “administrator approval” is also available to group members.
With the group suggestion feature, WhatsApp wants to provide an additional tool to help community administrators enrich their communities by allowing community members to collaborate, according to the report.
When the proposal is accepted, the group is automatically added to the community and its members are also added to the community. New community members are still in control of which other community groups they want to join as this is not automatic. The ability to suggest groups to a community admin is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.
WhatsApp also releases rounded alerts that follow the latest Material Design 3 guidelines. Material Design 3 is Google’s latest version of its open source design system that promotes best practices in user interface design.
