What Was the Significance of Mark Zuckerberg’s Spider-Man Meme After the Release of Threads?
Today, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made his first tweet in over a decade, coinciding with the launch of Threads, a platform that is being hailed as a significant rival to Twitter.
Zuckerberg, who goes by the username finkd on Twitter, tweeted the famous Spider-Man meme, in which two Spider-Men are seen confused as to who is who, pointing fingers at each other in confusion.

This is probably a dig at Twitter and an acknowledgment that Meta’s Threads are here to stay and attract the Twitter user base. This is not the first time that Mark Zuckerberg has indirectly challenged Elon Musk. Musk recently tweeted that he is “ready for a cage match” with Mark Zuckerberg, and in response, the Meta CEO posted a screenshot of Musk’s tweet on his Instagram social media platform, writing, “Send me the location.”
Threads is a text-based chat app, like Twitter, where users can write “threads” about things they want to communicate about. “Threads is a new app built by the Instagram team for sharing text updates and engaging in public conversations,” Meta said. Users can log in with their Instagram account and “posts can be up to 500 characters long and contain links, photos and videos up to 5 minutes long.”
The debut of the Threads app has already caused quite a stir. Shortly after its release, numerous celebrities and people’s friends had already gathered on the platform. Well-known influencers such as MKBHD, British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and notable publications such as The Washington Post have already made Threads accounts.
