YouTube Launches Lock Screen Feature For Android And iOS: Get The Details Here

YouTube, which is owned by Google, has revealed that it is currently experimenting with a fresh lock screen function that permits users to deactivate touch input while they are engrossed in watching a video.

“The lock screen blocks touch input while watching a video so that accidental taps don’t interrupt, skip, or disrupt the video,” the company said on its trial page.

This new feature will be available for Android and iOS. While the feature is being tested, Premium members can use this feature until July 30th.

When watching a video in full screen mode, users need to click on the gear icon at the top left corner of the screen and select “Lock Screen” to use this feature.

Meanwhile, last month the video-sharing platform had said it was testing a three-warning policy for people using ad blockers. “We’re running a small experiment globally that prompts viewers with ad blockers to enable ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium. Ad blocker detection is not new, and other publishers regularly ask viewers to turn off ad blockers,” a YouTube spokesperson said.

The company also provided details on how the practice works, but noted that “ad blockers violate YouTube’s terms of service.”
