Instagram Experiencing Outages for Numerous Users Globally

Following WhatsApp’s outage on Thursday morning, Instagram users are now experiencing difficulties accessing the platform. Yesterday, Instagram ceased to function for users worldwide, as numerous reports flooded downdetector.com. Users encountered problems accessing their feed and the Instagram app itself. At its peak, there were approximately 2100 reports, with individuals experiencing issues such as the disappearance of all posts and photos from their feed.

Now the social media platform has suffered yet another outage, with hundreds of people reporting problems.

Instagram crashes AGAIN

DownDetector, which shows a graph of Instagram outages reported in the last 24 hours, showed that while these problems continued since last night, only recently more than 600 people reported problems on the social media platform. According to comments on the Downdetector page, people can’t send pictures in DMs, while some of them can’t access the Instagram app itself.

The graph shows a view of problems reported by users in the last 24 hours. The majority of Instagram crash messages from users were related to issues with the Instagram app, accounting for 80 percent of cases. While 17 percent of users faced issues with their feed, and 3 percent of users reported issues with the website.

Problems in Meta

Instagram is the other Meta platform to suffer an outage today, and WhatsApp also suffered a major outage in the early hours of Thursday, July 20. Users complained about problems with the app and the platform’s desktop and web interface. Some of them couldn’t even send messages, suggesting that the problem might be server-related.

According to reports, as many as 177,000 issues were reported in the UK, 43,000 users reported experiencing issues in the US, and around 16,000 reports came from India.

WhatsApp was quick to respond, acknowledging the issue early and then fixing it within hours.
