Samsung Wallet Now Enables You To Securely Store Aadhaar Card and Flight Tickets In India
This week, Samsung has enhanced its Wallet service in India by introducing new features. Galaxy phone users can now conveniently store essential ID cards such as Aadhaar, PAN, and Driving License in the Wallet. Additionally, users can also store their COWIN certificate for travel purposes, as well as flight or train boarding passes.
Samsung launched the Pay digital service in India a few years ago and it is one of the most popular digital payment methods for people who don’t want to carry their payment cards everywhere. Samsung claims Wallet combines Pay and Samsung Pass features on compatible Galaxy phones.
The Samsung wallet made its global debut earlier this year and is now useful for millions of Indians who own a Samsung Galaxy phone. The company is also introducing new features for these users, such as uploading FASTag to their cars, booking and storing train tickets in Wallet and even checking its current driving status. For flying, Samsung lets you store boarding passes and other IDs to help you clear airport security checks.
Samsung says, “A dedicated team of engineers, designers and product managers at Samsung Research and Development Institute Bangalore (SRI-B), Samsung’s largest R&D center outside of Korea, developed these new features for Samsung Wallet. These features are part of several India-specific features developed by SRI-B for Samsung Galaxy smartphones.”
Samsung claims that all these documents reside on the device itself with the Wallet app and does not store them on a server. In addition to using your tokenized debit/credit cards, Samsung Wallet also supports UPI payments through these accounts. So how do you use a wallet on a Samsung Galaxy phone?
Samsung says the Wallet app comes pre-installed on Galaxy phones and you can access it by swiping up from the lock screen or even the phone’s home screen.
