Apple Watch X to Feature Slimmer Design and Magnetic Bands
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming Apple Watch X, which will mark the tenth anniversary of the device, is expected to bring more significant changes compared to the previous yearly releases.
Apple Watch X updates may include a magnetic strip mount that replaces the current sliding design and makes room for a larger battery. It may also have a slimmer watch case and a microLED display that offers a better picture than current OLED displays. On the health side, the Apple Watch X is said to include a blood pressure sensor alongside the heart rate monitor, sleep tracking and blood oxygen detection that are already on current models.
This updated Apple Watch likely won’t hit the market for another year if it sticks to a yearly release schedule, or two if Apple wants to wait a full decade after its initial release. The Apple Watch Series 9 is on the way first (and is expected to be announced at an event this September), bringing a faster processor for the first time since the Series 6 and some new colors. It is expected to remain the same size as the Series 8 across all its models, and overall it will be a limited upgrade.
