WhatsApp Introduces Ability to Edit Captions for All Users
Earlier this year, WhatsApp introduced the ability to edit sent messages. Now the Meta-owned platform is reportedly starting to allow users to edit media texts after they are sent. This means users can change the captions of the photos, GIFs, documents and videos they post.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature is now rolling out to users with the latest versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android. But don’t worry if you don’t have it yet, it will be available to everyone gradually.
The feature was originally found in the WhatsApp for iOS 23.16.72 update. WABetaInfo confirmed that the feature was indeed rolled out to users after installing “the latest WhatsApp for iOS updates from the App Store and TestFlight, and WhatsApp for Android updates from the Google Play Store.”
How to check if your WhatsApp account has this feature
To check if you’ve got this feature, try uploading a picture with a caption. Then long-press on the image to see if you get an edit option – the same way you long-press on a message to edit it. If the edit option appears, you’ve got the feature; If not, you should receive it in the next few days.
WhatsApp users have generally welcomed the ability to edit messages, allowing users to correct errors or change a message after sending it. This feature was released in May earlier this year and it seems that WhatsApp is now building on it by launching this caption editing feature.
