Foxconn Logistics Subsidiary Jusda Establishes Presence in Tamil Nadu Ahead of iPhone 15 Release
With the release of the iPhone 15 series approaching in September, Foxconn’s logistics department Jusda has opened a new office in Tamil Nadu, India, where iPhones are manufactured. This news comes after V Lee, Foxconn’s representative in India – announced the opening of a new office on LinkedIn.
“JUSDA India celebrated the opening of its TN center on August 18, hoping for a successful logistics business in India,” Lee said. He added, “Our sincere thanks go to GoTN, DPIIT, MeiTY and countless dedicated individuals who helped make this beautiful beginning possible.”
Jusda, the logistics and supply chain management arm of Foxconn, now has a presence in three locations in India – Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai.
This development also comes right after Bloomberg reported that Foxconn Technology Group’s factory in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu has started manufacturing the iPhone 15. The factory will begin shipping units just a few weeks after they begin shipping from factories in China — as the company seeks to increase the number of new iPhones coming from India.
In addition, Apple is also reportedly working on a multi-year project to reduce its manufacturing dependence on China and make its supply chain less vulnerable to changes in trade between China and the United States.
Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup is expected to launch on September 12, according to Mark Gurman, and will reportedly include the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus. In addition, Apple will also release the next-generation Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Apple has so far manufactured vanilla models of previous iPhone models in India, including the iPhone 14, and it remains to be seen if or when Apple will start manufacturing the “Pro” range in India as well.
