Snap Names India Leader, Unveils Expansion Plan
Snap Inc. has announced the appointment of a former Google executive to head its operations in India, as the company aims to establish a strong presence in this crucial growth market and emerge as a prominent player in the social media industry.
Pulkit Trivedi will start as CEO of Snap in India, Snapchat’s parent company said on Wednesday. The company also announced a new, localized organizational structure for the region, where teams such as those responsible for content and content creator ecosystems will report to Trivedi.
Santa Monica, Calif.-based Snap is targeting growth areas such as India while reshaping its advertising business to reverse declining sales. The company says it has more than 200 million monthly active users in India, where it has won fans among the youth.
Trivedi previously worked at Alphabet Inc’s Google, where he was responsible for the company’s India payments business strategy. He will report to Ajit Mohan, president of Snap’s Asia Pacific region.
