Adobe Photoshop Introduces AI-Powered Tool To Enable Image Expansion
Adobe, the tech giant headquartered in the United States, has recently unveiled a novel AI capability named ‘Generative Expand’ within Photoshop. This innovative feature empowers users to enlarge images beyond their initial dimensions by utilizing AI-generated content to seamlessly occupy the vacant areas during the expansion process.
According to the company, Generative Expand is useful when parts of the object have been cut out or the image needs an adjustment in terms of aspect ratio. It allows users to change the image according to their vision.
Users can also use text prompts to specify what kind of content they want to add to the expanded image, such as “add mountain range” or “add blue sky”.
Photoshop creates multiple variations for users to choose from and adds them non-destructively to a new creative layer.
“Say an object is cropped off, your image isn’t in the aspect ratio you want, or the focus object is misaligned with other parts of the image—you can expand your canvas with Generative Expand and make your image look anything you can imagine,” Adobe said in a blog post.
The company said users can add generated content with or without a text prompt. When the feature is used without prompting, clicking the “Create” button fills the expanded canvas with content that blends well with the existing image. A text prompt allows users to enter specific content, and the image expands accordingly to include the entered text.
“Generative Expand lets you spend less time editing and more time experimenting and adapting images to your own creative needs,” Adobe said.
Additionally, Adobe mentioned that Firefly-enabled features in Photoshop (beta) now support text prompts in over 100 languages, giving users around the world the freedom to use text prompts in their preferred language for creative projects.
