Apple is considering incorporating AI capabilities into iOS 18 with the help of Baidu technology; Find out what to expect
Apple has been in the spotlight for engaging in discussions with tech companies like Google and OpenAI to incorporate their AI services into its products. In addition to investing in AI startups for iOS 18, Apple has now teamed up with Chinese tech giant Baidu to utilize their AI services. The company is striving to introduce cutting-edge generative AI services to rival competitors like Samsung and Google. Stay updated on Apple’s efforts to integrate AI features into its upcoming devices.
Apple uses Baidu’s artificial intelligence service
According to a Morningstar report, Apple may use Baidu’s AI services in its future generative AI tools. It also highlights that the Chinese company’s shares rose sharply on the news. For now, Apple can use Baidu’s technology in its local generative Al model, which runs on the iPhone 16 model and iOS 18. After the news spread, Baidu’s market shares increased by 5.4 percent on Monday. Before Baidu, Apple was also said to be in talks with other Chinese LLM providers such as Alibaba.
According to a report by 9To5Mac, neither Apple nor Baidu have confirmed the claims. However, the partnership and the use of Chinese AI services would require several government approvals. In addition, LLMs must be trained accordingly based on different countries and regions to make Apple’s generative AI a success. Therefore, we have to wait for official confirmation of what Apple plans to do with its AI goals with iOS 18 and iPhone 16. The report noted that “Generative AI designs must be approved by Chinese regulators before they can be released to the public. Baidu’s Ernie Bot is one of more than 40 designs that have already been approved. The move could shift attention to Baidu’s AI services in the country.”
