Apple Expected To Release New MacBooks Featuring M3 Chip In 2024 – Here’s What We Know
Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is said to launch new MacBook models based on TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process in 2024.
After a few leaks in the past suggested that the new M3 MacBooks would hit the market this year, a new report from Taiwanese outlet DigiTimes claimed that the company will bring new MacBooks with M3 chips next year.
In July, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the first Macs equipped with the M3 chip could be released in October of this year.
“Since Apple released the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in January and recently the new 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio and Mac Pro models in June, Gurman said the first beneficiaries of the new M3 chip will likely be the next iMac, the 13- inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro,” MacRumors reports.
However, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in September also said that Apple will not release new MacBook models (with M3 series processors) before the end of this year. He mentioned that Macs being considered for the M3 chip include the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 24-inch iMac.
Meanwhile, Ross Young, CEO of research firm Display Supply Chain Consultant, recently revealed that Apple’s first MacBook Pro models with OLED screens are still at least three years away from release.
According to Young, it will take a few years for Apple’s supply chain partners to build production lines to mass produce laptop-sized OLED panels.
Compared to current MacBook Pro models with LCD displays, benefits of OLED technology include increased brightness, higher contrast ratio and deeper blacks, improved power efficiency to extend battery life, and more, MacRumors reports.
Young has been a reliable source of information related to the display of upcoming Apple products for several years and has a very accurate track record. The analyst also revealed that the next-generation iPad Pro models coming to the market in 2024 will also be equipped with OLED screens.
