Apple iPad Pro 2024 Rumored To Feature LCD Display Instead Of OLED
Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro will have an LCD display, not the advanced OLED panel technology. It was initially reported that the next-gen iPad Pro models would feature OLED displays, but a new report has hinted that it will come with LCD displays.
It has been widely reported that the new iPad Pro models will be the first Apple tablets to feature premium OLED panels, and are rumored to start shipping in the middle of next year. That may not be the case, MacRumors said, citing a new report from DigiTimes.
The Taiwanese outlet claims that Apple will actually return to using an LCD backlight in its upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro model, putting it on par with the current 11-inch model. The current 12.9-inch iPad Pro has a mini-LED display known as a “Liquid Retina XDR Display,” while the 11-inch version uses an inferior LCD-based “Liquid Retina Display.”
According to the report, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro’s use of expensive mini-LED backlights has made it challenging for the industry. Apple’s decision to switch back to standard backlight technology may be because it wants to reach more people and expand the market.
As a result of the component changes, production of the new 12.9-inch iPads may be pushed back to early 2024 at the latest,” DigiTimes reported as originally starting in early November.
According to MacRumors, if the next 12.9-inch iPad Pro reverts from mini-LED to traditional LCD panel technology, it would be considered a major setback for Apple’s high-end tablet lineup, especially considering that OLED display technology is perhaps the most anticipated upgrade to come. for the next generation iPad Pro models.
Another report from DigiTimes claims that Apple is working on a new foldable device that could be unveiled late next year. However, the report mentions that Apple may ditch the iPhones in favor of the iPad, its first foldable product on the market.
