WhatsApp To Introduce Option To Conceal Locked Conversations

WhatsApp, the popular meta-owned instant messaging platform, plans to introduce a new feature to hide locked conversations. According to the report, the ability to hide locked chats is currently in the works and will be available in a future update of the app.

“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.22.9 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a new feature to hide locked chats in the chat list,” WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, a new option is in development that will allow users to better hide their locked chats. Currently, the access point to the list of locked conversations is always visible in the chat list with at least one protected conversation, which allows anyone with access to the phone to understand the existence of locked conversations.

Once this feature is enabled, users can remove the entry point and make the list of locked chats visible by entering a secret code in the search bar, it said.

“Implementing a feature to hide the unlock point of locked chats and integrating a secret code feature to access the list of locked chats will definitely improve user privacy,” WABetaInfo said.

The report suggested that users can have sensitive or confidential conversations that they want to keep hidden from prying eyes. By hiding the entry point to locked conversations, it’s harder for anyone with access to the phone to even know that locked conversations exist, and this greatly improves the privacy of those conversations.

At the same time, WhatsApp is introducing the ability to use multiple accounts on the same device. Meta has officially confirmed that the feature will roll out to Android users in the coming weeks and months.

Such features are handy for people using dual-SIM phones, which is mainly the case for WhatsApp users in markets like India.
