Apple MacBook Pro With M3 Processor is Priced Higher Than Maruti Swift
Apple has just released a new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro that includes the M3 chipset. Yes, it has its fair share of upgrades, including the much faster M3 Pro and M3 Max chipsets.
As usual, Apple claims big things about new products in the form of a new chipset, which includes the base M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max. All of these chipsets are claimed to offer much better performance than the M2 series.
Here are a few observations about prices for the “Scary Fast” event:
The M3 chipset in high-end MacBooks lowers the price of entry
First, the 14-inch MacBook Pro is offered with a base chipset, which in this case is the M3. Do not get me wrong; it’s still offered in M3 Pro and M3 Max configurations, but Apple’s premium 14-inch MacBook Pro base chipset adds variety. For the uninitiated, in the M2 lineup, Apple only offered 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M2 Pro and M2 Max options; The M2 was reserved for the 13-inch version (the old model).
Comparing apples and oranges
As you move up to the M3 Pro and M3 Max chipsets, prices start to rise. As Apple likes to call them, the “world’s best laptops” come with a hefty price tag in India. For example, the top-of-the-line 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Max chip and everything else maxed out (128GB RAM + 8TB SSD) costs a whopping Rs 7,19,900.
This makes it more expensive than some entry-level hatchbacks in the Indian market. Do not you believe me? On-road pricing for the base Maruti Suzuki Swift in India is Rs 6.6 lakh, according to CarDekho. While we can’t compare apples to oranges and these two different material objects—designed to perform different tasks—it’s still food for thought.
However, not everyone would be inclined to buy high-end stuff. Many would find solace in buying mid-range or entry-level models. This is where the 14-inch MacBook Pro shines. The base model can be bought for Rs 1,69,900 with the M3 chipset (10-core GPU) and if you want to go ‘Pro’, you can shell out another Rs 30,000 to buy it with the M3 Pro chipset for Rs 1,99,900. .
New colors only for top models
Like the 24-inch iMac, Apple has decided to limit the new color options to the top-of-the-line MacBook Pro models only. Notably, the new Space Black color option is only available when you buy new MacBooks with an M3 Pro or later; it is not offered with the base model M3 which costs Rs 1,69,900. All you have to do is Space Gray and Silver if you want the M3 model.
So yes, those are some of the major highlights we found in the pricing of these new models. We recommend that you go through the huge number of combinations on Apple’s website to “create” the ideal MacBook Pro for yourself. From customizing a MacBook with only 8GB of RAM but opting for a 2TB SSD to buying an outrageously expensive 16-inch MacBook Pro with 128GB of memory and 8TB of SSD storage, it’s all possible with Apple’s current Pro lineup.
