Apple May Finally Have a Way to Entice Android Users to Buy iPhones
The Apple iPhone 15 series launches this week, and the wait is finally over for the company to introduce USB-C charging to its new iPhones. Apple wasn’t keen on this move for obvious reasons, but strict EU laws have forced the company’s hand, which would ultimately benefit consumers.
The company has long used its own lightning connector to charge the iPhone, which has helped Apple sell a lot of lightning cables and accessories. The move to USB C is expected to impact its money from this segment.
However, this is not all doom and gloom for the brand, as according to reports, Apple is sure to get something positive out of this move as well. A new study claims that Apple’s iPhone 15 series switch to USB C for charging could entice millions of Android users to jump ship this year. Apple will bring four models as part of the iPhone 15 series, which the company also did last year.
We expect to see the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All of these iPhones that offer a USB-C charging port change the equation for buyers, even those who avoided buying an iPhone due to its closed nature. Now these people can buy an iPhone and use one charger for all their devices, even if they continue to use an Android phone.
We’ve heard that Apple may finally upgrade iPhone charging speeds as long as people use its standard chargers and cable. But the move to USB C will negate that limitation, and hopefully other third-party accessories can finally be a safe option for consumers.
We’re just a day away from the main launch event, when we get to see Tim Cook and Co. talk more about the implementation of USB-C charging on iPhones and a possible future roadmap.
