Apple May Have Found a Solution to iPhone 15 Pro Overheating Problems

After many iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max users reported overheating issues, Apple recently acknowledged the issue and revealed that iPhone 15 Pro models are overheating due to certain bugs in iOS 17. The company had also said it would release a software update to fix a bug that caused the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to overheat.

According to a MacRumors report, Apple is now internally testing iOS 17.0.3. It’s unclear when iOS 17.0.3 will be released to the public, but the update will likely be available either later this week or next week.

According to the report, the company did not provide exact details about the bug it discovered, but it expected that it will not degrade the performance of the A17 Pro chip with the planned software update.

Apple also said that the iPhone 15 Pro’s titanium body is not to blame, so it appears that overheating issues are not caused by hardware flaws. A fix for the same bug should eventually be included in iOS 17.1, which is currently in beta and is expected to be released in late October.

In an official statement to ReturnByte Tech recently, Apple said, “We’ve identified a few conditions that can cause an iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer in the first few days after installing or restoring the device due to increased background activity.”

Apple added: “We’ve also found a bug in iOS 17 that affects some users and will be fixed in a software update. Another issue is related to some recent updates to third-party apps that cause them to overload the system. We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of being released.”

The company also clarified a few misconceptions spread by some reports. “Certain apps like Instagram, Asphalt 9 and Uber ‘overload’ the processor, which in turn causes the phones to run warmer than normal,” the company said.
