Made by Google 2023 event: what to expect today

Pixel 8 series

Google has confirmed that the Pixel 8 series will be launched today during its event. This year, Google is expected to continue its strategy of releasing two new Pixel devices – the Pro and the standard variant. We expect the Pixel 8 Pro with a 6.7-inch panel and the smaller Pixel 8 with a 6.2-inch panel. Both panels are expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate, but only the Pixel 8 Pro may get a QHD+ LTPO panel.

Both the smartphones are expected to be powered by Google’s third-generation Tensor chipset, the Tensor G3. The devices are rumored to introduce a number of industry firsts, such as the Pixel 8 Pro’s temperature sensor and a new Night Mode equivalent for videos, as well as Audio Magic Eraser, which allows users to remove unwanted audio from video and audio. clips.

Based on previous leaks, the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 are expected to come with higher price tags – possibly $999 and $699, respectively.

Pixel Watch 2

Last year, Google introduced the Pixel Watch, and this year the search giant is releasing another iteration of the same watch. The design is expected to remain largely unchanged based on the leaks seen so far. Internally, however, the watch is expected to see several changes – including the Qualcomm SW5100 chipset, which is a Snapdragon W5 paired with a Qualcomm Adreno 702 GPU running the new WearOS 4 operating system.

Also, while it should be taken with a grain of salt, Google is also expected to switch from a stainless steel casing to aluminum, which will reduce overall weight and improve comfort.

The Pixel Watch 2 has been confirmed to launch in India this year, but pricing information is still unclear. Based on leaks, the Pixel Watch 2 could start at $349 in the US.

Android 14 release

Earlier this week, Canadian telecom operator Telus announced the approximate release date of Android U, which is Android 14, as October 4th for all compatible Pixel devices. This suggests that Google might roll out Android 14 to compatible Pixel devices today.

The Android 14 update is compatible with the following Google Pixel devices: Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Fold. It includes iterative changes to Android 13, including improved privacy and security, which includes blocking the installation of legacy apps for Android 5.1 and older.

Pixel Buds Pro

It’s not entirely clear if Google plans to launch a new generation of Pixel Buds Pro earbuds, but rumors suggest that it might release new color options for the current Pixel Buds Pro — including a new porcelain and blue color. It might match the new Pixel 8 Pro, which is also expected to launch in a new shade of blue called Bay.
