Apple users are reporting iCloud backup issues after iOS 16.3 update
After upgrading to iOS 16.3, some iCloud users have reported problems uploading iCloud Drive, photos, and backups, and it appears to be related to the lack of two-factor authentication, reports AppleInsider.
The instances follow the iOS 16.3 update, which made security changes to allow physical security keys to be used to protect accounts and extended additional data protection outside of the United States.
According to user reports, they encounter a message that says “An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later.”
In most cases, two-factor authentication is not activated, a common thread in user reports. However, there are also a few reports of users having the same issue even with two-factor authentication already enabled, so it might be possible that the cause is something else.
It appears that some users have tried to contact Apple support for help, indicating that the tech giant is aware that something is going on with the system, according to the report.
Last month, the iPhone maker announced that it was expanding its Advanced Data Protection option to users worldwide.
Meanwhile, in December last year, the tech giant had patched a zero-day security vulnerability in its latest iOS software update that was being actively exploited in most iPhones.
