BMW’s ‘Vision Neue Klasse’ Concept Hints at Highly Efficient Electric Vehicles
BMW is further investigating the possibility of a wider range of electric vehicles by introducing the Vision Neue Klasse, a new concept design. This model is an extension of the i Vision Circular concept from 2021 and the i Vision Dee concept from this year. In addition to its visually appealing attributes, BMW asserts that the Vision Neue Klasse will offer a 30 percent increase in range and charging speed, as well as being 25 percent more efficient.
The company clearly wants its new electric car to be a real difference from its previous models. “With Neue Klasse, we have embarked on the largest investment in the company’s history. We are not just writing the next chapter of BMW, we are writing a whole new book,” Frank Weber, BMW board member AG responsible for development, said in a statement. BMW claims its new design is “so progressive” that at first glance, you might think the company skipped the design.
One of the most interesting features of the BMW Vision Neue Klassen includes the vibrant yellow lounge-style seats. While they certainly look fun, they likely won’t appear on any of the models headed for the market. However, the removal of chrome and leather should theoretically make the entire production more environmentally friendly. The interior also features the new generation iDrive and the introduction of BMW Panoramic Vision. The latter provides information such as navigation, speed and song at the bottom of the front windshield.
The automaker apparently wants to make sure you look at the concept car and feel nothing but happiness, calling the exterior paint “Joyous bright.” While the company says the color shows the “friendly, forward-looking personality of the BMW Vision Neue Klassen,” we can’t help but think it sounds like a description for a seasonal affective disorder (SAD) bulb. In both cases, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse will make its public debut at the IAA Mobility 2023 International Motor Show in Munich, but will not hit the market until 2025.
