Apple iPad Pro May Finally Be Ready to Replace MacBooks

Apple clearly sees the iPad Pro as the closest ally of its MacBook series. The variant has a large screen, PC-like hardware and all the ingredients to be considered an alternative to Macs, but if there’s one thing that’s denied the company’s wishes, it’s got to be Apple’s keyboard layout. calls Magic Keyboard.

But all of that could change in the near future as the brand plans to rename the iPad Pro’s keyboard and finally bring it closer to being the ideal MacBook replacement.

According to reports, Apple wants to increase the screen size of the iPad Pro to 14 inches and redesign the Magic Keyboard to make it durable, similar to a traditional laptop keyboard. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg is the source of these details, who also claims that the iPad Pro’s new keyboard will also have a larger trackpad.

He notes that Apple will use aluminum to build the next iPad Pro keyboard, bringing it closer to the design and quality of the MacBook keyboard. However, the design change is unlikely to compromise portability and key layout, which is essential for any keyboard. The current keyboard uses materials that make it bendable, which isn’t ideal for any keyboard, let alone one that works with the iPad Pro.

While all these changes are welcome and will get people excited, the problem is that Apple is raising the price tag of the next-generation Magic Keyboard, which already costs around Rs 29,000 in a market like India.

Gurman has already suggested that the next iPad Pro could be powered by the upcoming M3 chip, which will put it on par with MacBooks in terms of performance. The model could also be upgraded from LED to an OLED panel, which would increase the price of the product even more.

It would be interesting to see if Apple continues to use iPadOS for this product or moves to macOS as the device’s features are developed. We may get a better idea of Apple’s direction with the product next month when the new M-series chip is announced.

Many people have wondered the logic behind the iPad Pro when the MacBook is the ideal portable option. And it’s likely that future changes, if true, will show us the value of the lineup and how it stacks up with Macs.
