Call Screening Feature Could Soon Be Available for Google Pixel Users in India, Eliminating Scam Calls
Remember the call display feature that Google introduced with the Pixel 6 series? For those who don’t know, this feature automatically acts as a call screener that deals with telemarketers, scammers and other annoying callers. This can be very convenient for working professionals and the everyday user. Owners of the Google Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 series in the US and a few other countries have been enjoying this feature for quite some time now. It’s time for Indian users to experience it too.
The information provided here comes from a Reddit user who goes by the name r/yuval17G. According to their post, they were able to enable call screening in both Hindi and English (India) on OnePlus 7 running AOSP 14 custom ROM. They achieved this by using the Gapps Magisk module available on GitHub to enable call screening tickets. He points out that other countries also get call screening support, not just India.
You might be wondering how this indicates that call screening will eventually come to Pixel phones. The existence of these calling and language packs suggests that Google may be considering bringing this feature to more markets, especially India. Currently, this feature is reserved for Pixel 6 and later users in Australia, US, Spain, UK, Italy, Japan, Ireland, and Germany.
However, it is unclear when Indian users will get this feature, but according to reports, Pixel devices will get the feature in March and that may be when Google devices will also get it. But nothing is official yet and Google hasn’t said anything, so take it with a grain of salt.
