What Will We Call Tweets Now That Twitter Has Changed Its Bird Logo?
With the recent major changes on Twitter, including the replacement of the beloved Bird logo with an X, there is growing curiosity about how other aspects of the platform will be referred to after the rebranding. As Twitter users engage in activities such as tweeting and retweeting, people are eager to know what these actions will be called now. In response to a user named Sawyer Merritt questioning Elon Musk about the new names, the Twitter chief revealed that tweets will now be referred to as X’s.
The public has come to use the X brand across all Twitter features, especially since X has taken over the company, literally. Earlier on Monday, Twitter’s official account got a new profile picture with X branding, and the website was also renamed to X.com, which now redirects to Twitter.com.

Another user on the platform asked what retweets would be called after this change, and even suggested the name ReX’d using the X analogy, but Musk explained that instead of these random changes, he wants the whole concept to be rethought. So maybe he liked X in tweets but not ReX in retweets? Who knows.
Elon Musk and the X brand go way back, in fact way before he founded Tesla or any of the other big companies. According to popular author Walter Isaacson, Elon Musk’s fascination with the name X.com goes back a long time. His experience at Scotiabank had convinced him that the industry was ripe for disruption.
So in March 1999, he founded X.com, which has been renamed Twitter.com in 2023. Musk even wanted the one-stop-shop for financial needs to be called X.com, with PayPal as one of its subsidiaries. He even tried to rename the payment system to X-PayPal, but it resisted because PayPal was already a trusted brand. It’s possible that with the X brand, owned by another company, Twitter, he’s paved the way for a platform that does more than just share updates with the world.
