ChatGPT outage: People are facing problems using AI Chatbot for hours
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is of interest to anyone who wants to see its capabilities and let AI do its work. Unfortunately, ChatGPT didn’t let people log in on Monday, so everyone was left with a message asking them to come back in a while.
The OpenAI chatbot suffered a brief outage this week, mostly because the platform received more requests than it could handle. The outage started around 1:00 PM IST and according to reports on Downdetector.com, the chatbot was down for over an hour.
Open AI has received significant funding from Microsoft and other companies, which should ideally help ChatGPT operate at full capacity, but this outage suggests that despite the high popularity and traffic, the systems are not equipped enough to meet the demand at the moment. Some people thought it made sense to restart the computer to see if ChatGPT would start working, but it clearly didn’t. The chatbot outage affected not only those using the free version, but also the paid ChatGPT Plus model.

The outage comes just hours after Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, mentioned that he sees AI reshaping society, and he worries that AI Chatbot could eliminate many current jobs.
“This is where we have to be careful. I think people should be happy that we’re a little scared of this,” Altman said.
When asked why he was “afraid” to start a business, he said that if not, “you shouldn’t either trust or be very unhappy that I’m in this job.” ChatGPT has now moved to version 4.0 last week, which promises better accuracy of answers and better evaluation of statements made.
