Cricket Fans Rejoice! Samsung Unveils Bixby for India vs Australia World Cup Final!
Samsung has unveiled Bixby Cricket, a fresh addition to their built-in voice assistant, enabling users to remain informed about cricket matches. Notably, this feature is being introduced just before the World Cup finals between India and Australia. With this enhancement, Bixby users can effortlessly retrieve cricket match scores, stay informed about World Cup standings, and easily keep track of upcoming match schedules, all through a simple voice command.
Bixby Cricket is coming to Samsung
Samsung partnered with sports news website SportsKeda to build Bixby Cricket. The partnership between Samsung and Sportskeeda aims to make cricket more enjoyable and accessible for fans across India. Users can now interact with Bixby by asking questions like “What’s the result?” or “Show me upcoming matches” for instant, relevant information.
There is no need to manually update the app as these features are automatically added to existing Bixby users without additional downloads. You can check if you have this update by activating your voice assistant and using the command.
Balaji Hariharan, Head of Samsung Research Institute, Bangalore, expressed the importance of Bixby Cricket at the launch event, stating, “Cricket is more than a game in India, and with major tournaments either underway or on the horizon, Samsung sees Bixby Cricket as a great way for cricket enthusiasts to effortlessly stay up-to-date with the latest scores and tournaments with just his voice. You can get updates while driving, working, cooking, or any other activity that requires attention.”
Supporting the startup ecosystem in India
Apart from serving the passion of cricket, Samsung India aims to contribute to the growth of India’s startup ecosystem with this launch.
Bixby has evolved significantly since its inception as a smart voice assistant on Samsung devices. It has evolved into an open artificial intelligence platform that is available in several Samsung products and devices. Significant updates, such as the introduction of Indian English in 2021, have made Bixby more contextual and relevant to Indian consumers, improving its understanding of Indian names, places, relationships, content and recipes.
For those who have set Bixby as the default assistant on their Samsung phones, activating it is as easy as long-pressing the power key or saying “Hey, Bixby.” Alternatively, users can set Bixby as their default assistant via the Bixby app shortcut in the app drawer.
