WhatsApp Web is frequently overlooked when it comes to receiving new features and updates, unlike its Android, iOS, and desktop counterparts. Therefore, it is particularly thrilling for WhatsApp Web users when this version finally receives new features. In the near future, the web client will introduce a convenient feature that simplifies the process of finding older messages. Reports suggest that users will soon have access to a date filter while searching for messages, enabling them to narrow down their search and locate specific messages more efficiently.

The report comes from WABetaInfo, who mentioned, “WhatsApp is rolling out a new search message by date feature for some beta testers, making it easier for them to quickly find messages shared in their conversations on a specific date.” It is released to beta testers with WhatsApp Web Beta 2.2348.50.

In practice, this feature allows users to search for a specific term on a specific date. The report highlights that when someone enters a search query, another icon next to the text field can also be clicked. A calendar icon opens in the middle and users can navigate to the date they want.

Navigation within the dates of the month is easy because users see all the dates together. Switching between months can be done either by tapping the arrow keys on either side for the next and previous month, or by tapping the month name to open a vertically scrolling list of months. Similarly, by tapping on a year, users can select a different year in the same way.

Interestingly, this feature is only expected to roll out on WhatsApp Web for now, and there are no reports of its arrival on mobile apps or the desktop version. It is not expected to be released this month as the feature is still in beta testing. However, depending on the number of episodes in this phase, the feature could be rolled out to the general public as early as next month.
