Discover the New Chrome Web Store with Google’s ‘Material You’!
Google Chrome, a widely used web browser with over 2 billion users worldwide, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, Google has unveiled the largest redesign in the browser’s history. The update, which is now available, introduces the ‘Material You’ theme, previously popularized by Android 12. This includes refreshed icons and a range of new color palette choices that allow users to personalize their toolbar and tools. Additionally, the new Chrome Web Store has also been launched.
The all-new Chrome Web Store
While the new Chrome Web Store was previously available in preview, Google has announced that it is now officially open for business. This means that all users can now access the revamped online store to find extensions and themes to customize their Chrome browser and enhance their user experience.
Additionally, there are now categories for AI-based plugins such as AIPRM for ChatGPT, WebChatGPT, Perplexity, and more. The update also brings a class to shopping plugins like The Camelizer, Smarty, and Honey. The online store also suggests plugins tailored to your interests, based on the plugins you already use. In addition, the Chrome Web Store’s Editor’s Spotlight now includes recommendations for newly released extensions.
According to Google, navigating the online store is now easier than ever, as the search bar is now placed in the upper right corner of the screen. It also lets you filter by all items or recommended plugins to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Material from Google You are redesigning
The new Material You theme allows users to adjust the browser’s dynamic colors, movement, and widgets. Users can choose a monochrome theme, and Google uses the color removal logic and prints it through the 65-color API. It’s worth noting that even though it’s a redesign, the look and feel of Google Chrome is still the same, so it doesn’t feel like a new browser. However, you’ll notice that there’s a drop-down menu on the far left that shows all open tabs as well as recently closed tabs.
Announcing this redesign, Google said, “Thanks to all our users over the past 15 years! There’s so much to explore online, and we’re always making improvements like these so you can find what you need easily and safely.”
