Elon Musk apologized after mocking a physically challenged Twitter employee

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has apologized after publicly mocking a physically challenged employee who wasn’t sure if the company had fired him.

On Tuesday, Haraldur Thorleifsson, who goes by “Halli” and has muscular dystrophy, tweeted that he was unsure if he was still employed by the microblogging platform after not hearing back from the company’s human resources department.

So Musk conducted an employee exit interview on the platform that went viral, with many finding the Twitter CEO’s attitude rude and disrespectful.

Musk had also said that “the truth is, this guy (who is independently wealthy) didn’t do any real work, made the excuse that he had a disability that prevented him from writing, but at the same time tweeted up a storm. I can’t say I appreciate that much .”

However, on Wednesday, the tech billionaire claimed he had a video call with Hall “to find out what’s true versus what I’ve been told” and mentioned that it’s “better to talk to people than to communicate via tweet.”

Additionally, he apologized to Hall for misunderstanding the situation, saying “it was based on things I was told that were not true or in some cases true but not relevant. He is considering staying on Twitter.”
