Elon Musk Encourages Twitter Users To Become Verified And Earn Significant Income
Elon Musk urged Twitter users on Saturday to become verified subscribers, stating that they have the potential to earn substantial monthly income through ad revenue sharing, amounting to thousands of dollars.
Without explaining how they can do this without registering 5 million impressions per month with more than 10,000 followers – two key conditions for making money through ad revenue sharing on Twitter – he asked them to sign up for a paid subscription to Twitter Blue.
“Many accounts on this platform can earn thousands of dollars per month in ad revenue sharing if they become verified subscribers,” the Twitter-owned company said.
“It takes 2 minutes to become a verified subscriber for $7/month (annual subscription),” he added.
Several users slammed him, saying they’ve been waiting months to get verified accounts. Others criticized him for not making any money despite having millions of monthly views.
“I have Twitter Blue and 20-30 million impressions per month for at least the last six months. What do I have to do to get ad money? Thanks in advance,” one Twitter user responded to Musk.
Musk further said that intentional payments are more complicated, “but February’s ad revenue accrual will apply.”
“You’ll also soon be paid for ads that appear when others view your profile page, roughly doubling your payouts,” the tech billionaire added.
Last week, he said the microblogging platform will “soon” share ad revenue from profile page views.
He has admitted that Twitter’s cash flow is still negative, “due to a 50 percent decline in advertising revenue and a heavy debt load.”
“Must be cash flow positive before we have the luxury of anything else,” he wrote last week.
