Elon Musk Updates Twitter Profile Picture as Company Rebrands to X

The micro-blogging platform, Twitter, is slowly introducing the new X branding. The official Twitter handle has been updated to X, accompanied by a new X profile picture. In line with this, Elon Musk has also changed his profile picture on Twitter, as the company aims for comprehensive branding changes this week.

Twitter CEO Lina Yaccarina wrote earlier on Monday: “X is the future space of limitless interaction – focusing on voice, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’ve only begun to imagine,” she tweeted.

The new logo is just one of the changes Musk is making to Twitter, and it always has to be the biggest change since he took over the reins of the platform. Musk bought Twitter in a $44 billion deal last year, and has since overseen a massive restructuring of the company that saw all of its top executives move out.

He also imposed strict rules on employees, forcing them to work long hours, report to the office, and work to tight deadlines to complete the release of new features. He has also brought the Twitter Blue subscription to several countries and charges a premium for features like an edit button, verified ID for accounts, viewing unlimited profiles on Twitter and more.

Those who have followed Musk over the years know his affinity for the word X. It goes all the way back to his early days as a tech entrepreneur, when he wanted to start an online banking company in 1999 under the X brand. His experience at Scotiabank had convinced him that the industry was ripe for disruption. So in March 1999, he founded X.com. Tweeples can expect more changes to the app in the coming days.
