Everything You Should Know About the Forward Messages Feature Coming to WhatsApp Channels
Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is developing a new Channels feature that will allow admins to forward supported messages from other chats to channels. The feature is said to be designed to improve the user experience on the platform.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.26.2 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is developing a feature to forward messages to channels,” WABetaInfo reported.
According to the report, WhatsApp offers channel owners the ability to forward supported messages from other chats to channels. These include text messages, images, videos, GIFs, audio messages, stickers, and updates from other channels.
It is not currently possible to forward messages directly to channels as this feature is not currently supported.
In a future update of the application, channel owners can try a better communication experience by forwarding messages from different sources directly to their channels.
“We believe that by introducing a feature that allows channel owners to forward messages to their channels, they can refine content in their private conversations before sharing it with the channel’s wider audience,” WABetaInfo said.
The report suggested that this feature is designed to be a valuable tool for channel owners to draft posts and ensure the accuracy of the information being shared and prevent inadvertent mistakes or premature sharing.
The feature to forward messages to channels is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.
WhatsApp is also rolling out a feature that will allow users to filter and view status updates in a vertical list. The feature is available to some beta testers who install WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and is rolling out to more users in the coming weeks.
