Garena Reintroduces Free Fire India: Popular Battle Royale Game Available Again for Indian Players
Garena Free Fire returns to India after a short hiatus, and like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the battle royale game focuses on the Indian market by hosting the server locally and storing the data inside the country.
Free Fire was one of the apps banned by the Indian government in February last year over concerns about data security and the company’s origins. But the new version of Free Fire is tailored for Indian players with localized content, characters and other elements. The company will also be an active part of the country’s e-sports community, which enables its wider coverage and marketability throughout the country.
According to reports, Garena is calling it Free Fire India and has joined hands with a Hiranandani Group Company called Yotta, which will enable the game to be launched in the country and also comply with Indian government regulations. Garena plans to release Free Fire India for Indian users starting September 5, most likely for both Android and iOS users in the country.
But in addition to following security practices, Garena also assures that the new Free Fire game is designed to promote the safety and health of the games, but fun gameplay. Yotta is claimed to be one of the trusted service providers in the country that follows the directive of the Government of India as well as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which could help in offering the game to support UPI payments.
Garena claims to collect a very limited amount of data from users and assures that its service provider processes the data it collects to ensure compliance with regulations.
