Google Cloud Unveils Vertex AI Search, UK Hosts AI Hackathon, and Other AI News You May Have Missed
Google Cloud has unveiled Vertex AI Search, granting healthcare professionals early access. Additionally, the UK has revealed plans for an AI hackathon focused on exploring the applications of AI in education tasks, scheduled for the end of this month. 1. Google Cloud introduces Vertex AI Search for healthcare professionals
Expanding on its already vast portfolio of AI services and products, Google Cloud announced in a blog post on Monday that Vertex AI Search is now available early. Healthcare professionals and businesses can leverage Google’s AI-powered search to find specific clinical information much more efficiently and search vast data from clinical sources such as FHIR data, clinical notes, and medical data from electronic health records (EHRs).
2. UK announces AI hackathon
The UK Department of Education announced in collaboration with Faculty AI, the National Institute of Teaching and the AI in Schools Initiative that they will organize a hackathon on 30-31. October According to the release, participants will be asked to try out the AI to test its potential in a variety of scenarios, such as marking exam papers or creating lesson plans. Education Minister Gillian Keegan said: “To benefit from education, we need to improve our understanding of how AI works and how it works safely. Faculty AI and the National Institute of Teaching are supporting participants in hackathons to experiment and present solutions that pave the way for the future.
3. China adds computing capabilities
In an effort to keep up with the AI race, Chinese ministries announced on Monday a plan to increase computing power by nearly 50 percent by 2025. According to a CNBC report, China currently has 197 exaflops of processing power, but wants to increase it to 300. exaflops because it could help support the country’s various sectors such as finance and education.
4. The EU finds common ground with Japan in generative artificial intelligence
Reuters reported on Monday that the EU sees “convergence” with Japan in thinking about generative artificial intelligence. EU Vice President for Values and Transparency Vera Jourova said in an interview with Reuters: “I see a lot of convergence in how we look at AI and generative AI.”
5. Core BTS launches AI consulting services
IT consulting company Core BTS announced on Monday that it will launch AI consulting services tailored to the needs of the restaurant and gaming industries.
