Google to Manufacture Pixel 8 Smartphone in India: Information Revealed
At its annual Google for India event, Google announced that it will start assembling Pixel smartphones in India and the first smartphone to come with the Made in India tag is the recently launched Pixel 8. Google has been working behind the scenes. is expanding its manufacturing base outside of China just like Apple, and this announcement shows that Google sees India as an important market and will focus on the country in the coming years.
In terms of availability, the locally manufactured Pixel 8 smartphone will hit the market in 2024. However, Google did not officially comment anything on the pricing.
That being said, if you follow the price trends of Pixel phones, it can be safe to think that the prices of Pixel smartphones will drop drastically within 6 months of launch. And with local manufacturing, pricing for the flagship Pixel 8 phones might become even easier for more Indian buyers.
Despite the pricing, another consideration is that due to local manufacturing, spare parts for Google Pixel 8 smartphones can be expected to be widely available. Since then, Google has partnered with F1 to provide official customer support. But across India, there are only 27 F1 service centers servicing Pixel smartphones. Things may change for the better when Google locally assembles the Pixel 8 in India.
