Google Pixel 7 users are facing a major battery drain problem: know all the details
If you have a Google Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 device, chances are your phone has gotten abnormally warm since the last update.
Many users seem to have raised their concerns about this issue which always drains the battery much faster than usual. Google has heard these pleas and confirmed that a server-side issue caused this problem. It has now fixed the problem and your phone should be back to normal thanks to the changes made by Google.
An update provided to the Google app seems to be the culprit here and many people using the Pixel 6, 6 pro, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are facing this issue. That being said, we haven’t encountered any issues with our Pixel units.
Although Google has finally resolved the issue, it took the company a few days to even respond to these complaints. Some people who suffered from the problem sought help from Google’s support system, which suggested tips such as rolling back to an older version of the Google app or even resetting the device (because that always works, right) to see if that helps the problem. .
Battery life has been one of the weakest points of Pixel phones in recent years. Many have attributed this to Google’s in-house Tensor chipset, manufactured using the Exynos chip process. In the Pixel era, we’ve noticed the battery draining faster than other flagship phones, despite running on a lighter version of Android.
Will this server side fix help overall battery performance on Pixel models? One can’t be sure, but at least users won’t face excessive heating, which can be damaging to the phone in many ways and risky for the user, especially if the internals of the battery are sensitive to flammable or worse.
