Instagram challenges Twitter with a new text-based app
Meta Platforms’ Instagram plans to launch a text-based app to compete with Twitter and could debut as early as June, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the Facebook parent is testing the product with influencers and some creators.
The company did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
Meta has reached out to talent agencies and celebrities to gauge their interest in trying out an early version of the app that will integrate with Instagram, Alex Heath, a Verge reporter, said in a newsletter.
