Instagram Introduces Easier Way to Tag Groups in Stories
Have you ever attempted to share a nostalgic group photo from your college days, office party, or family gathering on Instagram Stories? For numerous individuals, the initial response is immediate remorse as they come to the realization that they must individually tag each of the 10-12 individuals in the image. The predicament becomes even more challenging when there are multiple group photos to be uploaded. However, Instagram is currently experimenting with a potential solution – a new feature that allows you to tag the entire group with just one mention. Although this feature is still being tested, once it is officially launched, it has the potential to significantly save time.
In the early hours of August 11th, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced in an Instagram broadcast: “We’re experimenting with a way to tag a bunch of people in a story with a single mention. Once you’ve created a group mention, anyone in the group can reuse it to automatically tag everyone in new stories. So if you’re on a summer trip with friends with, you can more easily include everyone without having to tag each person separately.
Instagram’s one-mention feature
This feature probably works the same way as creating a new group, but for mentions. So you can create a group and select the people in it. After you post a photo of the same group, you can write the name of the mention and all people will be tagged as well.
This is quite a neat feature that helps many people post easily and more effectively on Instagram. This is a quality-of-life feature where Instagram has made an existing feature more convenient rather than adding new ways to interact with the platform or new things. Recently, Instagram has added several quality of life features to its app.
Last month, it finally added a feature to upload reels, something TikTok users have been able to do since the app’s launch. Just like TikTok, the uploaded reels also get a watermark, which is likely to promote the app among those who don’t have an Instagram account.
Earlier, Instagram also introduced Notes (the area above DMs) and added a feature to add music to Notes.
