Instagram introduces new feature allowing users to share brief videos as notes.
Instagram continues to add new features that improve the user experience, ensuring that it remains relevant and functional for its users. Now the popular app owned by Meta has introduced the ability to send video notes.
It should be noted that Video Notes are not a replacement for Instagram Stories, as the name suggests, as Video Notes can be up to 2 seconds long. However, you can add subtitles to your short videos.
Instagram has also introduced more ways to respond to notes from friends and family. This includes photos, GIFs, videos, stickers and even voice messages. It’s worth noting that when you reply to an Instagram note, the other party will see your reply as a DM, and only your mutual followers and close friends can see your note.
However, Adam Mosseri first revealed the existence of this feature in October of this year when he explained how the new feature would work in a video shared on his broadcast channel.
“A new test on Instagram. This week we started testing the ability to send selfie videos to notes. Soon people will be able to update their default profile picture in notes with a short, continuous video. You can still share your thoughts with the video. If you start seeing videos in notes, let us know what you think,” said Mosseri.
Instagram first introduced the notes feature in September 2022, and since then the feature has been popular, with users even sharing songs.
