Instagram Set To Introduce AI Chatbot Feature
According to reports, Instagram, which is owned by Meta, is currently experimenting with a new feature that would enable users to communicate with artificial intelligence (AI) directly within the app.
Leaker Alessandro Paluzzi shared the development in a tweet, claiming that an AI agent is in the works for the platform.
According to the screenshots he shared, the chatbot can answer questions and give advice. Users can have up to 30 personalities to choose from.
“Instagram is working to bring artificial intelligence agents (bots) to your chats for a more fun and engaging experience. AI agents can answer questions and give advice. You can choose from 30 different personalities,” Paluzzi tweeted on Tuesday.
However, it is unclear when or if Instagram will implement this feature.
In February, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company is creating a new “top-tier” product team “focused” on generative artificial intelligence.
“We’re creating a new top-tier product group for Metal focused on generative AI to enhance our work in this area,” Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Instagram is set to take on Elon Musk-led Twitter with a similar microblogging platform that will likely launch by the end of June.
The Twitter-like platform, “Instagram’s new text-based chat app,” is apparently codenamed P92 or Barcelona, according to Lia Haberman, who shared the news in her ICYMI Substack newsletter.
