ISRO to Construct Space Station Following Chandrayaan-3 Mission Triumph
India’s space exploration journey continues without hindrance. Following the triumph of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, ISRO has been discussing various other space exploration initiatives such as Gaganyan and Shukrayaan. Additionally, ISRO’s solar mission, Aditya L-1, has been successfully launched and is currently en route to Lagrange 1 point.
After all this, ISRO is planning to take the next big step in space exploration.
In a recent interview with CGTN, ISRO Chairman S. Somanath revealed the agency’s astonishing plans, which include building a space station and long-duration human spaceflight.
Somanath emphasized ISRO’s commitment to exploring the immense potential of space science and its economic benefits. “We are looking at all possibilities after the success of the Moon mission,” Somanath said. “We’re looking at what kind of science you can do. We’re looking at how the space station can benefit India’s space economy.”
Chandrayaan-3
The Chandrayaan-3 mission, which was launched on July 14, achieved a major milestone when the Vikram lander and the Pragyan Rover achieved their target on the lunar surface on August 23. This achievement has not only strengthened India’s space ambitions but also opened up new possibilities for future missions.
Objectives of ISRO
One of ISRO’s main goals is to develop human spaceflight capabilities through the Gaganyaan programme. The purpose of this mission is to send astronauts into space. If successful, it will be a significant step towards building a space station. Somanath explained, “We have a plan that in the near future we have to start building a space station and start robotic operations.”
He noted that while India currently lacks a manned flight capability, work is underway and the Gaganyaan program is a key step towards achieving it. The goal is to establish a space station within the next 20-25 years after the successful development of human space flight capability.
In addition to this, ISRO is also planning manned research and long-duration human spaceflight in the future.
The successful completion of the Chandrayaan-3 mission has demonstrated ISRO’s ability to perform complex missions with precision and efficiency. This success has instilled confidence in the organization and paved the way for more ambitious projects in the future.
