Leaked Retail Packaging Reveals Potential Appearance of Google Pixel 8a Mid-Ranger
Google’s Pixel a series is a good example of how you don’t need the latest and greatest specs to deliver a decent experience, especially when it comes to cameras. However, some time has passed since the release of the Pixel 7a, and with Google I/O 2024 just a few months away, new information has emerged about the Pixel 8a.
The latest leaked images of the Pixel 8a’s retail packaging from the Google News group provide a possible glimpse into what Google’s upcoming mid-range device will look like. These leaks from Vietnam reveal a design that strongly resembles the rounded aesthetic of the flagships Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro launched in October last year. In addition, the images show the device in black color, possibly called Obsidian.
Aside from the color, the Pixel 8a could have a dual camera setup similar to the Pixel 7a. This setup suggests including both a wide and ultra-wide angle lens. In terms of specs, the Pixel 8a is likely to be powered by the Tensor G3, Google’s third-generation in-house mobile chipset, which is the same chipset behind the Pixel 8 lineup.
It’s not clear when the device will launch, but if the past is any indication, Google will usually announce the Pixel a series devices around May, coinciding with the Google I/O event. For example, the Pixel 6a was introduced in May 2021. Therefore, it’s likely that we might see the Pixel 8a launch in a similar timeline.
